Acer Tree Surgeons is committed to sustainability. Beneath you will see a number of innovative and environmentally considerate techniques used by the team as well as some extra services that we can provide to recycle our green waste.

· Seasonesd logs for sale (8" - to fit all fireplaces)
A full load is measured when the logs are level with the top of the tailgate of the truck in the picture opposite. This is just over a tonne and a quater in weight. We will deliver to a 15 mile radius of Westbury. The costs are below:
Loads start at £40
· Mobile log splitting service
After dismantling large trees of good firewood value we are often asked if we would split them. For large trees this can take a lot of time, manpower and effort to split a large amount of wood by hand. We now have a standalone petrol engine mobile log splitter with a 24 tonne push that is safe, simple and effortless to use. You can either hire an operator and the machine or hire the machine and do it your self. To give some idea, a half day will process a straight 50 foot tree with a 3 foot diameter at the base. Approximately, 2 tonne of wood. The costs are:
Full day with operator: £160
Half day with operator: £70
Full day machine only: £70 (£15 delivery and pick up)
Half day machine only: £40 (£15 delivery and pick up)
· Bio-degradable oils
We will only use bio-degradable chain oil and 2 stroke oil on all our sites at all times, we believe this is vital in reducing our environmental footprint.
· Recycling our green waste
Like many practitioners we feed as much as we can of our green waste through a brushwood chipper. This allows us to create the by product of chippings which, once matured to mulch, can be used on garden planting beds, footpaths, for tree planting etc. Mulch is an exclellent weed supressor as well as helping to retain moisture.
Call us about mulch, if we are passing your location we will drop off unseasoned mulch for FREE. Otherwise seasoned mulch is £45 per load (see logs for 'load' guidelines).
· Bio-fuels
Our chain oil and 2 stroke oil is bio-degradable and when logistically possible we use bio-diesel in our vehicles. Within the small machinery (chainsaws etc) we only use the highest performing  petroleum available to mix with the bio-2 stroke oil. This ensures optimum  fuel efficiency and means that CO2 emissions are reduced and that fuel deposits are kept to a minimum.
We are also currently developing systems to supply to a biomass fuel company and it is from this that we hope to lead the industry in the recycling of green waste to biomass. This offers a viable and sustainable alternative to the rapidly diminishing supply of fossil fuels.

We are also setting up systems to produce our own bio-diesel to run the vehicles and and the chipper and taking a further step away from the use of fossil fuels.
